Leaving Passau was in a manner that has now become familiar in cities – 20 minutes to do less than 4 kms through traffic and lights. Then finally the open road.
Some good sights, including this small traditional ferry across the river- taking this vintage car.

Just after this I stop for drink and an oat bar on a seat just by the river outside a small town/ village called Windorf. I hear a really quiet engine and wonder if a farmer is working nearby. I look around and a light aircraft passes about 50 feet over my head and lands on a small airstrip slightly lower than the bank beside me and about 100m away. Fun to see but I couldn’t get a photo.
Weather is good and I am making decent time so I decide that the best thing I can do with that time is stop in a cafe when there is one nearby – usually there is a dearth when I decide to stop. What better than to do what the locals do?

Moving on, I find it hard work cycling onto what the BBCs latest Michael Fish calls a ‘slight breeze’ on the forecast. I have a very different definition to him! To make things easier, the Germans are still rebuilding everything that moves- must have been a hard winter- and there are projects everywhere, particularly across my EV6 route. Good for them as their infrastructure looks amazing but my gpx nav doesn’t know about the changes so I have lots of detours. By the looks of it so do most other cyclists on the route, short or long stage.

note the flags flying briskly in the breeze, from a direction I am just about to turn into.
We are expecting to have to park in a lay-by for the night, then we find this little beauty on an app. It is the cleanest and best equipped site we have seen since we started the trip.

And when we drive to the village a short distance away to get some food- one down side, the camp eatery had shut at 1800- we find this to awaken childhood memories!
