So back into Linz to start the trip and get under way. No one factored in the massive building project going on that involves building a new bridge and a series of tunnels- on our way back into town. A hour of traffic queue later I get to set off.

Another day cycling through fabulous gorges. At one point I was tempted to take a straighter route and cut some kms off. When I realise how hilly it is away from the river, I am glad I stuck to the route.
first milestone a few kms in – 2000 kms up. A result.I am happy today!

It is another good day today. Warm and sunny, turning hot (25c). With a gentle tail wind for much of the day. I knock off my almost 100kms requirement in 6.5 hours including breaks.
I notice some lovely holiday villas and lodges on the way and people are outside in the sun relaxing and enjoying life. But there is a message about how cold the winters must be. Everyone has masses of wood cut ready.

But this is how Austria can be and I will remember.

today we entered Germany and we finish the day at Passau. This appears to be river cruise boat central – they are all here!
It was an early finish, so we decided we could spare some time for a coffee in an old city cafe in the sun. Nick came into the centre to join up. We went into a large car park and noticed a height restriction getting out. So we had to turn round – should have been easy but no , we clip a parked car! No one around speaks much English – or claims not to!- so we put a note on the windscreen. Damage is minimal. Later we get a call from the owner and agree to swap insurance details. I hope it goes ok!
